The Ettin’s stench permeates the area – or perhaps he merely smells like the piled up dead bodies where the carrion crawlers live. It shakes its blinded head, finally clearing its vision.
The Northern Carrion Crawler is pushed back one space, as though an invisible string controls its initial movement.
Stones disappears into the alcove (J7). No one else can see what he is doing.
Voss dances in close to the Ettin, Stormbiter snapping out to nip at his enemy. Before the Ettin can strike back Voss retreats out of range, and remembering how long the Ettin’s reach is a good ten feet away (B12).
The Zombie in the middle of the room rushes at Stones (I7). It does not attack Stones in a conventional manner so much as slam into Stones. Stones shrugs off the attack, though he is close enough to view the creature’s ribs.
The Northern most Zombie, trapped behind the Ettin also heads off toward Stones. Reaching Stones (I6) it also slams into the human. Stones successfully thwarts this attack with a clever side-step.
The Northern Carrion Crawler emits a high pitch squeal before diving into the bones. It disappears with the bones and armor filling in the vacuum it creates when it dives.
Q’wyn points his rod at the Ettin, “Boy, that's the biggest case of hydra envy I've ever seen.” The bolt of dark energy flies forth, striking the Ettin in its left shoulder.
"Remmy! Zombie!" screams Inara.
Inara, seeing her bodyguard potentially flanked by two enemies, dashes forward with impressive speed from the hallway drawing her short sword. She squeezes past Remsfeld and Voss, closing on the southern most zombie (D12). Plunging it into the side of the undead Inara yells, “She shoots....”
With a roll…her intention was to launch the creature into the air sending it hurtling over the pit toward the Ettin. The world is full of good heroic intentions.
Instead…
The zombie disintegrates and Inara gets a mouthful of zombie. It is not the worst taste she has ever had in her mouth, though not the best either.
Elby rushes into the room, also splitting Voss and Remsfeld, and stopping (C12). He nocks two arrows. Elby screams,"Cursed spawn of Vecna!" and launches the two arrows at the zombies next to Stones.
The first zombie takes the arrow to the head, then collapses into a pile of bones and dust. The second zombie takes the arrow to the chest before it collapses into a pile of bones and dust.
Radegast is left standing nose-to-noses with the Ettin. Or in this case nose to massive chest. Radegast stares upward until he catches the Ettin’s eyes, there are unspoken words, almost a challenge, Me and you!
Radegast’s brings his weapon axe-side forward, still fully on fire, parts they air before smashing the Ettin square it one of its faces.
Hard.
Alion’s holy symbol glows bright. A sacred light shines from above, searing the Ettin with its radiance while also aiding Radegast (7 temporary hit points). Alion then steps into the room (B11).
The Ettin looks at Radegast with both its heads. It seems to only have eyes for Radegast.
“My—“ says the right head as it swings its cleaver toward Radegast.
“—turn!” finishes the left head as it swings its cleaver toward Radegast.
Inherent reflex saves Radegast from the first blow. Years of training saves him from the second. The Ettins’ look at Radegast in shock.
Round one in that one-on-one battle definitely falls to Radegast.
Remmy says something unintelligible in dwarven as he shoves Inara clear of the pit area (1 hp). He turns his body to keep himself between Inara and the pit in case the carrion crawler returns or a zombie comes out.
New initiative order:
- Voss
- Stones
- Qwyn
- Elby
- Radegast
- Remmy
- Inara
- Alion
